For most couples we recommend Kraft Azalea Garden (Winter Park) for a lakeside walk-up, Lake Eola for city lights, and Leu Gardens for florals. Plan the proposal about 20 minutes before sunset, and check each spot’s hours first — several close at dusk.
After photographing 100+ proposals across Central Florida, I’ve learned that the difference between a good proposal photo and a breathtaking one usually comes down to location — not the most famous spot, but the right spot for light, privacy and the walk-up. Here are seven I recommend, with the practical details most lists leave out.
1. Kraft Azalea Garden — Winter Park
My most-requested spot. Moss-draped cypress, a lakeside lawn on Lake Maitland, and the Exedra — a white columned monument at the water’s edge. Your partner looks out over the lake while I stay hidden in the trees.
Good to know: the garden is free and open 8 a.m. to dusk, so this is an evening, golden-hour spot — not a sunrise one. Weekday evenings are quietest. Full details in our Kraft Azalea guide.
Best for: lakeside walk-ups, classic “yes” moments, golden hour.
2. Harry P. Leu Gardens — Orlando
Fifty acres of botanical garden minutes from downtown, with shaded paths, a formal rose garden and huge camellia collections. The canopy-covered paths frame couples naturally.
Good to know: Leu Gardens charges admission and has its own rules for professional photography, so it takes a little more planning. We confirm current hours and photo policies before your date.
Best for: garden lovers, colorful florals, daytime proposals.
3. Downtown Orlando rooftops & balconies
If you want the skyline, a rooftop or high balcony delivers — especially in blue hour, the short stretch after sunset when the sky turns deep blue and the city lights come on. Most rooftops belong to restaurants, hotels or residences, so we arrange access in advance and I’m in position before you arrive.
Best for: evening proposals, city-loving couples, dramatic backdrops.
4. Bok Tower Gardens — Lake Wales
A little over an hour south of Orlando, a 205-foot gothic singing tower rises out of hilltop gardens. It’s the closest thing to a castle you’ll find in Central Florida — and since Disney no longer allows outside photographers at its resorts (here’s what changed), it’s where many of our fairy-tale couples go instead.
Good to know: admission is paid, and the gardens close in the early evening, so this is a daytime or winter-afternoon spot. Professional sessions follow the gardens’ photography policy, which we arrange ahead of time. Ask us about travel for Lake Wales.
Best for: storybook architecture, daytime proposals, couples who’d have chosen Disney.
5. Moss Park — Orange County
The local secret. An Orange County park on a strip of land between Lake Hart and Lake Mary Jane, with moss-draped oaks, open water and no tourist traffic. On a weekday you’ll often have whole stretches to yourselves.
Good to know: there’s a small per-vehicle entry fee, and the park closes in the evening — in summer the gates can close before sunset, so we time it carefully.
Best for: waterfront proposals, privacy.
6. Lake Eola Park — Downtown Orlando
The fountain, the swan boats and the skyline say “Orlando” instantly. The lakeside path gives you motion, skyline and the feeling of “our city.” In the evening the fountain runs color light shows; show times shift through the year, so we check the current schedule for your date.
Good to know: Sundays bring the farmers market crowd. Weeknights are calmer.
Best for: Orlando residents, evening light, an instantly recognizable backdrop.
7. Wekiwa Springs State Park — Apopka
Clear, turquoise spring water surrounded by Florida wilderness — nothing else in Central Florida looks like it. The spring and the oak hammock around it make images that look like a travel magazine.
Good to know: it’s a Florida state park with a per-vehicle entrance fee, open from 8 a.m. until sundown, and it can reach capacity on summer weekends. Sessions that need space or setups may require a permit from the park.
Best for: outdoor and adventure couples, daytime sessions.
How we choose the right one for you
We weigh three things: meaning (does this place fit your story?), light (will the sun be in the right place at your time?) and privacy (how busy is it on your day?).
